Nothing to Be Nervous About

YOUR FIRST
CLASS

STEP 1

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Wear comfortable athletic clothing—shorts or leggings and a t-shirt are perfect. Bring a water bottle and a towel. We have loaner gis if you're trying a gi class. That's it. No special gear needed.

STEP 2

ON THE MATS

You'll warm up with the group, then learn 2-3 techniques with a partner. The coach will pair you with an experienced member who'll guide you through everything. Go at your own pace—no one expects perfection on day one.

STEP 3

AFTER CLASS

You'll feel tired, accomplished, and probably a bit addicted. Stick around—members often chat after class. You'll realise the hardest part was just walking through the door.

STEP 4

YOUR FIRST MONTH

Aim for 2-3 classes per week. You'll start recognising positions, remembering techniques, and building connections. By week four, you'll wonder why you didn't start sooner.
